A New Global Educational Approach
A living framework for families who feel it in their bones -
it’s time to walk towards a New Way
Sacred Oak Way is my life’s work.
It came from a lifelong pursuit of one question:
The way we are living and leading isn’t it - but what is?
This Way has been shaped by my lived experience, my education and motherhood. I’ve travelled, searched and listened in over 30 countries, watching where children thrive and where they quietly disappear. I’ve toured many educational alternatives, homeschool cooperatives, and have observed their ways.
I’ve spent over a decade in traditional classrooms, founded an alternative school and hosted homeschool children in my home. I’ve instructed educators in a college setting and most recently have been providing academic research on Global Educational Philosophies, STEM, Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Child Development. For the past 8 years, much of my spare time has been spent learning about the nervous system, trauma informed care, neurodivergence, global parenting approaches, and conscious parenting.
The Sacred Oak Way answers the question I have been seeking.
It provides A New Way.
What the Sacred Oak Way Is
The Sacred Oak Way is a highly structured yet living framework for families and communities who feel this knowing too.
It shows us:
how to hold children together
how to support unique essence and gifts
how to offer personalized enrichment
how to weave community gifts together
how to lighten the load by doing this together
Learning was never meant to be outsourced.
Children were never meant to be sent away to be shaped by strangers.
Education belongs in the home - and in the village.
This is a new global approach for families to reclaim learning.
Children learn through:
building
making
nature immersion
responsibility
creativity
mentorship
real-world projects
Trauma-informed.
Nervous-system-informed.
Conscious parenting woven into daily life.
We reclaim learning.
We reclaim passion.
We reclaim time for our own projects.
When the children are held by the village, we are freed to create.
When the children are provided this environment, they are freed to be their fullest expressions.
A Living Community Model
Imagine:
children building a den with one parent
learning horse care with another
creating, experimenting, contributing
adults activated in their own passions
time reclaimed
responsibility shared
A schedule woven in response to who is actually present and what gifts live in the community.
This is how we were always meant to live.
This work bridges Old Ways of Knowing, with a New Way.
Old Ways that our body still remembers.
The village.
Learning done through living.
Multi generational learning.
Connected to nature.
Family unit honoured.
New Ways that offer empowerment and fullest expression.
Pieces of global philosophies.
Lived experience.
Responsive to real life.
Personalized enrichment and mentorship.
This is more than providing an alternative to education.
A path forward for families to turn towards the Sun and anchor a New Way alongside your community.
“Just as the acorn contains the mighty oak tree,
the Self has everything it needs to fulfill its destiny.”

Read My Journal: The Sacred Pursuit
My journey toward remembering a different way to live, learn, and raise children.
For more than a decade I’ve been navigating education, family life, and community - inside classrooms in Canada, across three continents, and finally here in the jungle of Costa Rica. Through it all there was a persistent question simmering beneath everything: This isn’t it - but what is?
In The Sacred Pursuit, I share the long path that led me from traditional systems into real-life exploration - how I watched models that promised freedom leave me yearning for deeper belonging, and how eventually everything I was looking for showed up within the journey itself.
This piece is:
A personal story of exploration & discovery
Reflections on alternative education and parenting
A manifesto of sorts for the work now unfolding here
Honest and rooted in lived experience
If you’re curious about how all of this began - the questions, the travels, the stumbles, and the aha moments - this is where it lives.
Sacred Oak Way Is a Way of Being
Sacred Oak Way is not education.
It is a way of being with children and a way of weaving together a community.
It begins with a simple shift:
children are autonomous beings, not projects.
They do not need to be shaped, managed, or accelerated.
They need space, time, and relationship.
This Way asks adults to step into a different role.
To slow down.
To listen more than they speak.
To intervene less - and observe more.
To take responsibility for the field we create around children:
the rhythms, the spaces, the tone, the unspoken expectations.
Sacred Oak Way is child-led -
and adult-held.
Children lead their own learning, their own questions, their own becoming.
Adults hold the container: presence, boundaries, enriching spaces, facilitated experienced.
Freedom without presence becomes abandonment.
Structure without trust becomes control.
Sacred Oak Way walks the living line between the two.
What We Are Doing
We are creating the conditions where children can meet the world directly.
Not through abstraction.
Not through worksheets.
But through lived experience.
Where they move their bodies freely.
Where they use their hands.
Where they try, fail, adjust, and try again.
Where they negotiate with peers, test ideas, and discover how things actually work.
But this is not random.
The environment is prepared with care.
Rich materials.
Open-ended tools.
Natural elements.
Real instruments.
Real responsibility.
Spaces that invite invention.
Spaces that ask something of them.
We observe closely.
We notice who each child is -
their essence, their curiosities, their edges.
And from that noticing, we respond.
Responsive experiences.
Responsive mentorship.
Responsive challenge.
Not everyone does the same thing.
Not everyone moves at the same speed.
Not everyone needs the same support.
This Way adapts to the child -
not the other way around.
Children learn best through lived experience.
Through friction - not avoidance.
Through choice - not compliance.
Through real contribution - not simulation.
They may get dirty.
They may fall.
They may argue.
They may struggle.
And in doing so, they learn their own limits.
They build real confidence.
They develop emotional resilience.
They strengthen their voice.
They trust themselves.
This is not chaos.
It is intelligence unfolding within relationship.
It is autonomy held inside presence.
It is freedom shaped by care.
This is Sacred Oak Way.
The Spaces
In Sacred Oak Way, space is intentional.
Every area is designed as an invitation - not an instruction.
The environment itself supports autonomy, regulation, creativity, and real-world skill building.
Rooted in global learning lineages - Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Anji Play, Forest School, and land-based learning - our spaces offer rich materials, engaging environments, and meaningful mentorship.
Children are trusted with real tools, real choice, and real responsibility.
Natural elements.
Open-ended materials.
Real work.
The space becomes a teacher - meeting each child where they are and responding to who they are.
This is not about stimulation.
It is about presence, possibility, and deep learning.
The images below offer a glimpse into what this Way can look like when it takes form.
